Ain Shams Students Shine in Chinese Recitation, Reinforcing Egypt-China Ties

Competition Highlights Strategic Partnership and Cultural Exchange

CAIRO – Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Al-Alsun recently concluded the final rounds of its Chinese language recitation competition, themed “Egypt-China Dialogue: Silk Road Encounter… Together Towards the Future.” The event, held under the patronage of University President Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abidin, was supervised by Dr. Nasser Abdel Aal, Egyptian Director of the Confucius Institute, and Dr. Wang Xiaohai, the Institute’s Chinese Director.

During the competition, young Egyptian participants, all students of Chinese language and culture, delivered exceptional performances. Their presentations demonstrated a profound understanding of the comprehensive strategic relations between Egypt and China across various sectors. Contestants conveyed sincere emotions, reflecting a deep sense of belonging to Egypt and an appreciation for China and its culture, while expressing their commitment to continued study, creativity, and innovation along the Silk Road connecting the two friendly nations.

The judging panel announced the winners at the conclusion of the finals, with Ain Shams University students securing top honors. Mirhan Ahmed was awarded the Grand Prize. Youssef Mohamed and Mariam Hatem jointly received the First Prize. The Second Prize went to Knooz Mostafa, Youssef Haggag, and Mohamed Sameh. Magda Maurice, Samira Saeed, Mahmoud Hussein, and Mohamed Soliman were awarded the Third Prize.

The final rounds saw attendance from a number of Egyptian and Chinese professors of the Chinese language, alongside students and guests. Dr. Nasser Abdel Aal, Dr. Hassanin Fahmy, Dr. Wang Xiaohai, and Dr. Chen Li Fan participated in the closing ceremony. Rania Saqr, a teaching assistant in the Chinese Language Department, and Mr. Yan Bing, an instructor at the Confucius Institute, co-hosted the event.
