2027 Jeep Cherokee: Hybrid, Screens Standard, $35,130 Base

2027 Cherokee gets hybrid powertrain standard across all trims

Jeep is betting its mainstream comeback on the redesigned 2027 Cherokee, now priced from $35,130 with a hybrid powertrain, a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, and standard all-wheel drive across every trim, according to Jeep pricing and specifications.

The move is a sharp departure from the 2026 Cherokee, whose base price was $35,000 and whose powertrain was the conventional 2.4-liter Four Cyl or the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, depending on the source. In 2026, Jeep said the Cherokee would be built on the STLA Small architecture with a gas engine or a hybrid; the 2027 redesign shifts the compact SUV onto STLA Large and makes electrified efficiency the default, Jeep said.

Every 2027 trim carries a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid paired with two electric motors and a continuously variable transmission, producing 210 horsepower and EPA-estimated 37 miles per gallon combined, according to Jeep. The lineup is built on the STLA Large platform, and Jeep has said the Cherokee is one of the first vehicles to use it.

Jeep’s 2027 Cherokee pricing runs $35,130 for the base Cherokee, $38,130 for Laredo, $40,130 for Limited, $40,725 for Limited Altitude, and $43,130 for Overland.

That places the Cherokee inside the same price band as the Ford Bronco Sport, the Honda HR-V, and the Toyota RAV4 hybrid, though each competitor offers different standard equipment. Jeep’s emphasis is on making the hybrid system and the largest screens in its compact segment standard rather than optional, a strategy that targets buyers who want electrified efficiency without a luxury-badge price.

Inside, the redesigned Cherokee uses a rotary gear selector, wireless smartphone integration, and recycled interior materials, Jeep said. The dash centers on the 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 display and the 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster as standard equipment.

Utility retains Jeep’s traditional emphasis. Standard all-wheel drive, a 3,500-pound towing capacity, 24 inches of water fording depth, and eight inches of ground clearance are listed by Jeep. A Trailhawk variant is arriving to compete more directly with off-road competitors, but the high-efficiency hybrid trims are the focus of the redesign.

The stakes extend beyond one model. Jeep has said it plans to electrify most of its lineup through the 2030s, and the Cherokee’s STLA Large launch is part of that transition. The redesign also targets buyers who left Jeep for brands offering better standard technology and fuel economy.

Jeep did not release full 2027 range figures beyond 37 MPG combined, and final EPA fuel economy ratings will be confirmed when the 2027 Cherokee enters production.

Jeep will announce official availability dates as the 2027 Cherokee moves into production.
